The number of food-related apps is growing by the day. While some of these apps let you order food, others help you procure grocery items and yet others let you book a table for dinner at a restaurant of your choice. These apps can come in extremely handy, provided you know which ones to use. And we’re here to help you choose.
So whether you are a foodie or have selective taste in food, these are the apps you need.
1.
Zomato
This one needs no introduction. If you are a foodie, you probably already have Zomato installed on your smartphone. The app lets you find restaurants to go to or order food from. Using Zomato is simple. Just select the restaurant you want to order from, add the items to be ordered, select the payment method and you’re done. You can also check menus from various restaurants and compare them before deciding.
2.
InnerChef
InnerChef lets you order food with just a few clicks. It’s just that just the food doesn’t come from any restaurant, but is prepared by chefs. You can order anything from breakfast and salad to snacks to desserts. The app delivers ‘15-min meals’ which are essentially ingredient boxes that come with an instruction cards. As the name suggests, these help you get a meal ready in just 15 minutes. We particularly liked InnerChef’s desserts and cakes selection.
3.
Swiggy
Like all food delivery apps, Swiggy tracks your location and suggests places nearby that you can order food from. You can select from a list of items and place your order from the app. Swiggy offers breakfast, tiffins, burgers & sandwiches, soups, desserts and more. You can also use cuisine-based filters like Italian, Lebanese, Mexican and Mughlai. There is even a ‘Healthy Food’ filter for health conscious users. The app competes with the likes of Faasos and Foodpanda.
4.
Dineout
Getting food delivered at home is fun, but there are times when you want to go out and eat. And finding a table in a restaurant can be a really cumbersome experience. This is where Dineout really helps. It not only helps you reserve a table but can also get you up to 30% discount on the total bill. To get started, all you have to do is enter the location where you want to go for eating and specify the cuisine. The app then gives a list of places you can book a table at. You don’t even have to carry your wallet with you, as you can pay the bill directly from the app.
5.
Foodie
If you don’t just love eating but also showing others how delicious meals are, Foodie is the app for you. It has been specifically made to click pictures of food. Foodie comes with various filters which can make the pictures of your food look even more appealing.
6.
Tastemade
If your love for eating goes hand in hand with your love for cooking, Tastemade is just what you need. The app has interesting videos of recipes of everything from pastas to cakes. Most videos cover food items that are fairly easy to make at home and use simple ingredients as well. Also, it gives you quite some ideas about what you can cook. So next time you throw a party at home, make sure to refer to Tastemade.
7.
Yummly
Having over one million recipes, Yummly lets you cook dishes while keeping in mind any food items that may not suit you. The app displays nutritional values of most dishes, thus making it easier to know your calorie count. You can also add recipe ingredients to the shopping list by pressing a single button.
8.
BigBasket
So if you are a indeed foodie who also loves to cook, you need to have a good grocery ordering app in your phone. BigBasket is one such app that you can try. We think it’s great because it saves you the trouble of going grocery shopping. You can select what you want and order food items as you would on any e-commerce app. The ordered items get delivered pretty quickly. You can also check out Grofers, a similar app.
